A guy who purchased his lovely wife a pocket Taser for their anniversary submitted this:

November 19th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in General

Last weekend I saw something at Larry’s Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my wife Julie.

What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized taser. The effects of the taser were supposed to be short lived, with no long-term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety….?? WAY TOO COOL!

Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home. I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed.

I learned, however, that if I pushed the button AND pressed it against a metal surface at the same time; I’d get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs.

AWESOME!!!

Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave.

Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn’t be all that bad with only two triple-A batteries, right?

There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the
directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target.

I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised.

Am I wrong?

So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and taser in another. The directions said that a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water. Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries.

All the while I’m looking at this little device measuring about 5 ” long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference; pretty cute really and (loaded with two itsy, bitsy triple-A batteries) thinking to myself, ‘no possible way!’

What happened next is almost beyond description, but I’ll do my best…?

I’m sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side as to say, ‘don’t do it dipshit,’ reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny little ole thing couldn’t hurt all that bad. I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it. I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button,

and .. … WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION!!!!!!!!

. . .

I’m pretty sure Jessie Ventura ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again.

I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs?

The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room.

Note: If you ever feel compelled to ‘mug’ yourself with a taser, one note of caution: there is no such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from
your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor.. A three second burst would be considered conservative?

A minute or so later (I can’t be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected my wits (what
little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace.

The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was. My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs.

I had no control over the drooling.

Apparently I shit myself, but was too numb to know for sure and my sense of smell was gone.

I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head which I believe came from my hair. I’m still looking for my nuts and I’m offering a significant reward for their safe return!!

P. S. My wife loved the gift, and now regularly threatens me with it!

Craigslist is at the top of the BBB’s warning list!

November 12th, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in News, Software, craigslist

“Craigslist has the BBB’s lowest rating, because they are not responding, not taking care of their customers,” said BBB President Linda Carmondy.

I can confirm that this is in fact the case. Their help forum is nonsense and there are countless users complaining that they never receive a response when emailing “customer service” - help@craigslist.org

I tend to agree that they should not be obligated to provide support to free users. Craigslist is allowing the community to flag PAID ads. Users are paying for listings that are removed in hours, even minutes. This is wrong and I don’t think the BBB is aware that this is happening.

The following are a few complaints I’ve collected from the craigslist “help” forum which took practically no time at all.

there are people flagging the ads and some of the ads are okay and not obscene
the cost of $5 is alot of money to have to lose to have to repost the ad again. so is there some kind of protection against getting flagged unfairly? thanks

Craigslist never responds to anything

i posted at 6:57 pm and my post is only showing up on one site.i have emailed them 7 times i have even called them this is the biggest scam b.shit site, and i pay for my ads.

Why is craigslist ripping people off?

Pay for an ad and it doesn’t get posted-great service CL!

They took my money for nothing too!

I paid to post at 12pm yesterday and nothing! They won’t respond to my emails or help me by phone.I was told my ad is there and I need to refresh my browser and after repeatedly telling that jerk I did that several times and I was doing it as I spoke to him he caught an attitude and said he had to end the call. Ok, so where’s my freaking ad??? I even had someone else check from their computer, it’s not there and I’m highly upset that they made me pay for an ad they didn’t post. Time for a new site.

“The site has set it up to protect their (craigslist’s) interests, but not necessarily the customers.” Right on.

Craigslist files lawsuits against various auto posting software sellers.

November 7th, 2008 | 6 Comments | Posted in DRAMZ, News, craigslist

SAN JOSE (CN) - Craigslist claims 12 copyright violators are selling illegal software with which users can bypass its security to post thousands of repetitive ads,  maliciously interfering with Craigslist’s business. The suit says defendants advertise, “I have unlimited phone numbers to verified craigslist accounts! Once you become my member, I will give you the discount to support your posting work!”

Craigslist states in its complaint that it has 25 employees.

It sued these defendants in separate federal complaints: Zheng Peng dba postingexpert.org; Living Easy Software; Mark Adamczyk dba post2craig.com; 24hrposting.com; Realworks Group LLC, of Florida;  Kevin Mesiab dba ezadsuite.com, and EasyAd, of Idaho; Naturemarket Inc. dba powerpostings.com; Jody Graffunder dba Craigslistmaketer.com; Autoposterpro, PostingExperts, craigslistadstore.com and craigslistpormoting.com; and Adsoncraigs.com.

In a sample complaint, Craigslist claims that Zheng advertises he has devised a system that eludes Craigslist’s “Captcha” security. The Captcha system posts words in distorted letters that humans can read but computers cannot.

Craigslist claims Zheng aka Jacky Peng willfully, maliciously and fraudulently violates copyright, and copies and sells Craisglist’s proprietary information.

It demands punitive damages for copyright violations, computer fraud, interference with contract and computer crimes. It is represented by Brian Hennessy with Perkins Coie of Menlo Park.

AdsOnCraigs Registration Issue & Programmer Drama!

November 7th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in DRAMZ, News

AdsOnCraigs Statement:

We have switched programmers and the old programmer obviously doesn’t like that. Your license is indeed still valid. You must update to the latest version of the autoposter to fix the registration ID bug

ATTN: We have a new programmer. We will soon have a full released update with many improvements and an updated user interface. Any bogus posts concerning the old programmer situation will be deleted.

No truth whatsoever. The old programmer has always had control of the domain that the autoposter uses to validate registration ID’s. Since switching programmers, we expected him to be disgruntled. We are moving forward with a larger programming team and everyone will be very impressed with the newer version.

until our new version is released, we do not want our users to be forced to pay again to the programmer.

since he has control of the registration domain, he is trying to make money off of every client. this is unacceptable

we will have a new version this coming week

virus? why would you say that. it is not at all

MSE, thanks for bringing this up. I was about to open a thread about this. AdsOnCraigs IS the owner of the software. Unfortunately, we gave too much control to the lead programmer. We switched programmers and the lead programmer(Yury) obviously does not like to be let go. The “patch” that modified the hosts file was a temporary fix just until we released an update to the autoposter from our new programmers. The new update is not a patch that modifies any host file and will simply update your autoposter and fix all the invalid registration ID issues:

[update url removed]

Yury, who is obviously out of work now, is trying to simply scam previous customers into re-purchasing the software through him. This is nothing but a scam and its unfortunate that we allowed him so much access to our customers, including customer emails. He has since updated the original registration ID server to disable all registration ID’s that were sold while he was our programmer. Unfortunately we do not have control of the original registration ID server but we have a new registration ID server and the new update(released yesterday) will fix all issues.

To sum up, we greatly apologize to all our customers who have been affected by this highschool drama. AdsOnCraigs(our 6 employees) looks forward to the future and are proud of the new programming team that is now in place and working hard on updating the autoposter with even more features.

Response from a user:

Admin - How are we to believe you when right across the software is in big type - ATTENTION! Adsoncraigs.com is SCAM now: read here

I swear my norton internet security claimed the update file was a high risk security threat and removed it, i downloaded it from this site adsoncraigs.com/update.exe and after failing to install because it wanted to modify the hosts file which is blocked from ebing modified shortly after my antivirus kicked in and tol me to remove the security risk

or stop the whole thing all together until u got ur new version out, rather than letting people continue to download his spammy cracked virus infected stuf

Upon opening the application you will see:

Clicking the “Read Here” link displays the following which is also quoted below:

Adsoncraigs.com sold pirate registration ids and it’s SCAM now.
Let me describe the situation: Derek Boris (adsoncraigs.com’s owner) doesn’t own the program he sold (I own it), he only distributed it. Your copy was sold illegally through him (you got the registration id already sold to another person), if you get invalid registration id warning.
You should request refund. You can find link for this in your payment confirmation, which can be found here http://www.plimus.com/jsp/find_shopper_order.jsp

Adsoncraigs.com can’t sell legal copies of this program anymore. There is cracked version on the site now, as well as update (http://www.adsoncraigs.com/update.exe) it sends now to everyone. This update creates fake domain to cheat the program: It adds

74.52.120.98 www.yuskis.info

to ‘ C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts’

You need to type “C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts” in notepad file open window, press open and delete this string “74.52.120.98 www.yuskis.info” to disable this crack.

As Derek hasn’t program’s sources, the program won’t be updating and his cracked version will be unworkable soon.

This is against Plimus.com policy and you can request refund in your payment confirmation as you bought it with Plimus.com

Yury,
the program’s owner and developer,
cap.sale@gmail.com

I originally bought this application from cap.sale@gmail.com (Yury) from scriptlance before adsoncraigs.com was around. It is my understanding that the russian programmer has been using the guy at adsoncraigs as a proxy to accept US payments. Only they know for sure but clearly neither of them is being honest.

’nuff said…

AdsOnCraigs “Captcha Bypass” apparently no longer works!

October 4th, 2008 | 6 Comments | Posted in News

AdsOnCraigs “Captcha Bypass” no longer works according to several posts on their “support” forum and a few other websites on the net. Are we surprised? No.

It is interesting that they are still advertising that it does so.

Screenshot from AdsOnCraigs.com

Get a headache, get the tool!

100% of the time eh?
“Professional Grade Software” huh?

brb while I ROFL

ok back.

A few quotes from their forum:

Craigslist has made the captcha text even more garbled which is making it harder for humans to read, and even harder for the Image Recognition in clap to decipher.

sometime within the past week or two its effectiveness changed. For example today on the past 3 posts, 1 took 4 minutes, 1 took 14 minutes, and another took only a minute or two to figure out the correct words.

When it gets to the CAPTCHA PAGE it just keeps refreshing.
What can I do to fix this?
Thanks

me too… over 30 minutes on one add….wth

It reports OCR error. The admin only care selling but not service!!

when it gets to the word verification the page just keeps on refreshing.

The admin seems forget his customers after we paid him….

Who names their product “The Clap” anyway. hahaha

Will it ever stop? AdMasters Theft - Part Three

September 8th, 2008 | 8 Comments | Posted in News

Oh brother… Just when you thought LivingEasySoftware couldn’t stoop any lower.

You can’t exactly call yourself the “leader in craigslist automation” when your success relies on others effort and work. It appears that when a competitor makes a move, they make a move. It’s sad that they have to downplay competing products in order to make their own product shine.  “AdMaster has capabilities that exceed every other tool on the market.” - This, by the way, is far from the truth. LivingEasySoftware has nowhere near as many features as Craygo Elite. I mean, until they go through and rip them off.

I got a bit of information directly from Craygo recently:

“A few months ago LivingEasySoftware copied our Terms of Service word for word - for use on their website. We then contacted them with the information we obtained by performing a whois search. Screen shots and emails were printed off and filed. To this day we have never received a reply.”

Craygo’s Terms Of Use was copied word for word shortly before Michelangelo ditched them. Kevin at Easy Ad, LLC has expressed that he too had some of his work copied verbatim such as forum posts and an application resource file that enabled the application to bypass/read the captcha images on craigslist. Lets not forget the incident where Mark at LES copied one(to our knowledge!) of Kevin’s forum posts.

The fact that the makers of AdMaster copied Kevin’s post straight from Kevins own support forum is proof that they are incompetent and rely on their competitors to act first. It is clear that LES could not come up with their own explanation for their customers.

Oh and here is some more interesting stuff - Craygo only acknowledges Easy Ad, LLC as a true competitor.

“He is the only fair & worthy competitor we have. He has a great product and I wish him the best of luck.”

Maybe someone will put a stop to this LivingEasySoftware nonsense. Maybe Kevin and his legal team?

So far we’ve got:

  1. Craygo’s Form design (field, label positions and captions) and a few features.
  2. Craygo’s Terms of Service
  3. Easy Ads OCR resource file
  4. Easy Ads Forum Post

I also noticed that LES has a new Live Chat button on their website. But of course this was added AFTER Craygo had implemented it….

OH! You know Easy Ad’s Craigslist Academy? Well now there is AdMasterAcademy.com

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHA
